Dusk at Dunderberg Meadows

One evening, just before sunset we took a drive hoping for some spectacular skies, but the remnants of a storm were moving out too fast.
These aren't spectacular but this view of Mono Lake from Dunderberg Meadows is OK, I think.
And the view in the other direction was even nicer.
I like the way the setting sun was lighting up the sides of these hills.

Its a beautiful scenic spot. I fell in love the first time I saw Mono Lake!
I do spell check before I post but sometimes our thoughts and ideas run faster than we write. Hehehe!
P.S. We might defer traveling to the Eastern Sierras, some things came up. But I really want to go back!

Love this time of year, with storms and clouds breaking up the monotony of those clear blue summer skies!

You know the problem with that part of the state? It's too beautiful in person that no matter how gorgeous our shots are we think it's just so-so because we remember how totally awesome the sights are in person.

Your shots are wonderful.

You are able to get such long, clear views of your mountains! (Not to mention the lake...) I like the way the fence seems to be pointing the way to the distant landscape. Have a great weekend, Martha.

Beautiful Landscapes and skys..I could get lost in thought and meditation just standing or sitting there taking it all in.
We too have beautiful views from our mountains here in NC and I never cease to be amazed at what Creator has given us to admire.

Three great ones. I've learned a lot from your skywatch photos over the months.

Maybe it's because I lectured on it today, but the lovely horizontal lines reminded me of Leonardo's Last Supper.

I've been homesick all week, and you've added to it once again--but thanks for being there to bring me home.

These are meautiful shots, Martha. There is a very still, meditative quality about them, and the light is lovely. I especially love the second shot with all its layers of interest.
