Red Rock Shadows

I had been through St. George, Utah several times on the way to Zion. I had never explored the red rock country of nearby Snow Canyon State Park. It has wonderful formations that I had not experienced until our visit to the spa. While going through photos for my earlier post I realized that I had plenty of shadow shots.
They got us out on the trail early so we would be back in time for lunch and other activities.
There were plenty of shadows in the early morning light.
I'm sure I'm not the first to catch a shadow like this but it's fun if not unique.
See other interesting shadows at Hey Harriet hosted for us by Tracy.

That is beautiful UT canyon country, Martha. The shadows on the red rock always seem more magical, don't they? I may have to try this spa!

The red rock is stunning, the formations a rugged beauty. The family that enjoys this beauty together is one with nature, the fragile people in tune with the bold formations. The beauty out West i stunning, far different than we see back East...

Beautiful views, and a wonderful interplay of light and shadow. Even better, when you can have fun with it.

There's a lot of conversation and decision making going on in the third shot...Great capture.

They're all good but that last one with the shadows of the people on the red rock really took me. It somehow captures the magnitude and majesty of these large rock formations. Excellently done!

What beautiful red rock. This looks like a place that would really be worth visiting. I particularly like your middle shot here - lovely composition and great contract of the sparse red rock and the little trees that somehow manage to survive.

Great tones!
My favourite is the third, for the shadows indexing human presence in such a wild and extreme landscape.

Very good!
