On to Zion

The day after our orientation We headed our for a week on the road; first stop, Zion National Park.

Zion may be in the desert but when we were there we saw plenty of water.  Here it was sheeting over Weeping Rock.

At the end of the park road, a place called Temple of Sinawava, another waterfall leaps over the cliff and cascades down the rocks

A closer look at the cascades.
The Virgin River at the end of the River Trail, sometimes people can wade into the water and walk up the narrows.  Followers of Geogypsy may remember that she posted about this hike in 2009.  I don't think she would want to make that hike now.  The river is high, swift and loaded with sediment.

More watery scenes can be found at Watery Wednesday, hosted for us by too sweetnsaxy.

What a cultural treasure trove some of our forefathers had the wisdom to try to preserve these beautiful, wild places.

We have been to Zion three times and count it as our favorite NP.... thanks for sharing. It is a magic place. It would I'm sure be good for us to learn more about the geology and history, but it speaks to us on some other level.

That's incredibly beautiful country. I love the dessert colors and the cliffs.

It's amazing not only that there's water but also that there's so much of it. Waterfalls are always enchanting but I think the dessert locale makes these even more special.

What an adventure. I spent five years in the desert country of Utah as a kid and I miss the high desert.

Now I finally get the meaning of sheeting. I always thought it was such an odd term to be used with rain and water. These shots are awesome. Once again younhave given us some beautifufk photos to enjoy.

We hiked along the river, but not into the river. It did look intriguing though.
