California is my world and California has a law requiring hands free cell phone use. When I saw this woman fiddling with her smart phone I expected that she would soon break the law by putting it too her ear. No, she kept fiddling; texting (also illegal)? game? internet? I don't know what she was doing but at 50 mph I wish she had been paying more attention to her driving.

This is frightening to see. It is inexplicable that someone would “multitask” while driving. The laws are finally starting to catch up. But it is slow to happen and accidents unfortunately will be the result. The seriousness of being behind the wheel cannot be overstated yet goes unrecognized by many.
I do find myself frequently wondering about some peoples actions and what on earth they are thinking??? Apparently they're not thinking and that would certainly seem true of this woman! Great capture, Martha! Hope you have a lovely day! Enjoy!

Same here!! I think we need to take the phones off these people. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Fantastic capture. Real dangerous act for all around her.
We have a similar law in Ontario and STILL I see people texting and talking on their phones while driving. Dumb drivers indeed!
It is a growing problem! Absolutely, the brain cannot handle this type of multitasking. It's the driving that probably takes "back seat!"
People are doing some scary thing while driving. maryland has a NO Talking/Texting law in effect.
So dangerous ! Great capture though :)
I'm amazed that anything is considered that important to text/talk about while operating a vehicle.
Texting is of course very dangerous. Its a firing offense with my employer to do so while driving.
That is just wrong! If the driver has no care for herself then as least have a care for the other drivers and pedestrians! :(
Hi there - natural selection should sort out this problem - but the issue is drivers like this may kill a lot of other people before we evolve!!!
Cheers
Stewart M!
Did you send this photo to the Highway Patrol? We should all be ready to take photos of people multi-tasking like this, as long as we aren't driving and using our cameras at the same time, LOL. (I'm certain you weren't doing that.)

Dumb almost is too nice a word! It must be illegal. Think of the danger to herself and others...and I can't believe how many times we see this kind of stuff.
I can't even understand the addiction to those gadgets. Yes, traveling as we do I (almost) couldn't live without a cell phone, but why is it necessary to be in touch constantly?
That is indeed scary for those around her.
we have lots of idiots like your driver.
I am often amazed at what people do when they're driving...I saw a man brushing his teeth last week!
I saw people here doing it too. Too dangerous.
I really find this action pretty scary. Can't the texting wait til she's not driving? have a happy weekend!
I still see lots of drivers with their cells in their hands. Today I saw a mailman driving his truck around while chatting on his phone! Texting seems way worse than talking though...
I've seen people weaving all over the road while talking/texting/ or whatever the heck they're doing on their phones!
I agree, driving 50 mph requires full attention.
Drivers like this person drive me crazy.
