UFO?

The Eastern Sierra is a great place to see lenticular clouds.  After a night of high winds the sky had filled with lots of interesting cloud formations.
See more skies from around the world at SkyWatch Friday, hosted for us by

One of the best photos I ever took (and that I have no idea where I put) was a shot of a lenticular cloud at sunset in Owens Valley--the so-called "Sierra wave" effect we used to get quite often.

Yours is worthy of a cloudwatcher's textbook. Great job.

I love lenticular clouds. They frequently form over Mt Rainier.

beautiful clouds and sky Martha. And I learned (or relearned) something after my visit to Wiki (thanks for the Link).

Are you traveling?

Guess that there can't be greater an artist than nature; beautiful set in scenery by your photography. Please have you all a good Friday.

The clouds remind me of flying saucers, Martha. Hope you have a great weekend at the cabin.

Wow!

Here, the lenticular clouds tend to sit on top of the mountains looking like lids for the volcanos.

Is it any wonder that the earliest "flying saucer" stories came out of the area around Rainier.

So dramatic! Almost makes me dizzy with the motion. Great capture!

Wow, that's an amazing cloud formation!

That cloud formation does look like a UFO! I've never heard of lenticular clouds, nor seen a effect such as yours.

Amazing sight! We aren't lucky enough to see those clouds here.

It looks like one UFO! Great formations! The second post I saw lenticular clouds!

P.S. The Greystone Mansion is located in Beverly Hills going west on Sunset and Doheny Drive, being managed now by LA Parks and Recreation. I will post more photos soon.
