Wildlife Viewing at the Ponds--Part II

On a recent visit to the ponds I spotted this red shouldered hawk.  I looked away briefly and when I looked back he was gone from his perch.
I got him in my viewfinder again just as he took off from the puddle below his perch.
He had something in his talons.
 Something he found tasty.
After he had finished I checked out the remains, a crayfish.

What great pictures of the hawk. I've seen hawk; however, I've always been sitting in a car. I capture a glimpse of a hawk as we drive by. I hope one day to be situated where I see a hawk and have a camera in hand!

Wonderful photo essay Martha! You are so patient and such a good photographyer. That pond is a wonderful place for nature watching. (I'd be happy just to have a pair of binoculars if I were there -- and wait for your beautiful pictures!)
