Antelope Slot Canyon

The last stop on our tour was Antelope Slot Canyon, a place of light and shadow I had long wished to visit.
This in on the Navajo Nation and can only be visited with a Navajo guide.  It's a place that cries for HDR processing so for the rest of these images I took my RAW file, made +2 and -2 images in the RAW converter and then used tone compressor in Photomatix.
Several Navajo companies have rights to lead tours here so it is very crowded.  You can get a longer tour that allows you to set up a tripod but that wasn't an option for us.  The companies each have other slot canyons they can visit which are less crowded but again, that wasn't an option for our group.
You could get an unobstructed view by looking up.
Our guide knew all the tricks, he showed us this heart shaped slot.
He threw sand on this ledge for a "sandfall".

Find more shadows at Shadow Shot Sunday, hosted for us by Tracy in Brisbane.

Glorious -- incredible photography. And definitely one place in that area that we haven't visited. How lucky you were to do so and thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Such dazzling beauty!

I HAD A LITTLE SHADOW
(With apologies to Robert Louis Stevenson)

I had a little shadow
No bigger than my thumb;
I took him to the meadow
And there I gave him rum.

My drunken little shadow
Did weave and bob and pitch;
He stumbled from the meadow
And fell into a ditch!

The rocks are formed into cool shapes - the views almost seem like a painting that has a swirly abstract pattern. And that shade of red is artistic, and different. What an amazing place, rock outside and style within...

What a majestic place. And I am captivated by the idea of a sandfall.

These are fabulous, Martha. The stone looks so silky with its mingled colors.

I have seen photos of this place, but I didn't know how I could even see it. Maybe I can after all.

I so enjoyed Antelope Canyon but did find the tour a bit crowded. Most of my photos didn't come out well except for the one the guide took. I've been in other unguided slot canyons that were just as nice. Your photos bring back memories.
