Joshua Tree National Park—Climbers World

We took a drive through Joshua Tree last month.  Even though we arrive mid-day on a weekday, the campgrounds were full.

The park is named for these Joshua Trees, a tall variety of Yucca that was just beginning to bloom during our visit.

As interesting as the they are, it is not the Joshua trees that draw most people to the Park.

It is the rocks.

This is a popular area for rock climbers.climbers

It seems it is never too early to start.  This family was teaching their children to climb.

You can find more views of the world at My World Tuesday, hosted for us by Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and Sylvia.

Great post and such an interesting area! Love the Joshua Tree, but the rocks are beautiful, too, in such a stark way! Marvelous shots as always, Martha! Hope you have a great week!

I would LOVE to see the Joshua tree in bloom. I'll have to visit the park in April one day. :)

The little ones probably have no fear and love the adventure! I looked again at the Hummingbird series in the last Post, Martha. So great - you should put them on your sidebar!

What an interesting place. I love the way the rock faces look and great to see families with the children starting on rock climbing.

Such a fascinating place! I imagine those rocks have seen many histories pass by over the years! They are huge!

So glad to have been allowed this small escape from this large city over here - even though only in mind. Beautiful photography indeed.

Please have you all a wonderful Tuesday.

I don't remember seeing a Joshua tree but surely I did when we were rock hunting with my Dad. . . They start those kids rock climbing early, don't they!

I love the starkness of the desert, the rocks, the plants so exotic to me.

I'm pretty sure I've told you before that JT is our favorite NP. Can't see too many pictures of it and yours are great. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for taking me back to Joshua Tree, it's been too long. The rocks there are so magnificent and it's fun to watch the climbers or go for a boulder hop hike.

J-Tree! Such a great spot to be. I've only been once, but got to do a lot while i was there (however, we had no time to climb, we were a little bummed!). Love the post, makes me want to go back soon!

Hello Martha,

I love Joshua Trees! However, I did not know that the rocks were also a huge draw to the park. I love learning new things from your blog :-)

I have been wanting to go out to Joshua Tree lately...had better do that before the heat really arrives. It is another one of our amazing places and camera friendly, too!
