Evening Sky

When thunderstorms brew over the Sierra we can often see them peeking over the ridge.  A few days ago they rose higher than usual, creeping farther west over the foothills and catching the glow of the setting sun.
I try to be alert for sunset, to see how the clouds will position themselves and play in the evening light.

Check out more skies at Sky Watch Friday, hosted for us by Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and Sylvia.

Really a spectacular anvil shot! I love the structure and color. What a beautiful setting for it, too.

As for shooting fireworks... steady hand... and lots of bad shots.

That is an amazing sky - very dramatic! You can almost see the storm boiling and roiling ready to let rip!

Fantastic sunset! I like how the shadow towards the center of the cloud makes it look more sculptural.

Gorgeous coral-colored clouds, Martha! Great capture. I love how sometimes clouds get hung up on the Sierras and then occcasionally give us a sprinkle in the summertime. Keep cool this weekend!

Your picture of the Sierras bring back wonderful memories of camping there as a child. I love how thunderheads form over the mountains :-)

Beautiful Martha! I don't seem to be able to catch a sunset or sunrise here lately -- just plain blue skies (not that I'm complaining, but they do make rather boring pictures). Thank you for sharing your beautiful rosy sunsets! Great picture.
