On a recent camping trip I enjoyed watching this Chicaree or Douglas Squirrel. I had to watch my head, though, for first he threw them on the ground.
It almost looked like he was eating corn on the cob.
He rips off the scales to get at the seeds.
Eventually he notices me watching him.
He runs off with the pine cone. It must weigh more than the squirrel.

How fun to catch it in the act. These are excellent captures.
I watched a Kaibab squirrel playing today. No pics as it was through a window screen. So fun to watch the wildlife.
Wonderful shots of the guy! So very candid. Smiles.

Cute! The next to last photo is my favorite!
Cool series of pictures. When I was in the Boy Scouts when we lived in the White Mountains of Arizona. Our big fund raiser was collecting pine cones for the Forest Service. We got them from caches the squirrels made. The rangers assured us that they hid a lot more pine cones than they could possibly eat but we still felt guilty.
He hung around for quite a while for you. Must have been too busy to notice you.
Very nice close ups! They are interesting little characters.

Awww it's so cute!
Great shots Martha. You have the patience of an angel (or a National Geographic photographer!)
It looks EXACTLY as if he's eating corn on the cob!
A lovely sequence of shots. I wonder if he thought you might be after his pine cone?!
That cute little squirrel sure has a big appetite! I saw squirrels at the beach. :D
How adorable. One of their favorite foods is corn on the cob so he initially may have thought that's what it was. Great capture. He is a cutie.
Thank you for your ability to share the Good and Beautiful.
Please have a nice Sunday you all.

Great series of photos, maybe he didn;t want to share his meal.
What cute photos Martha!! Amazing what they can carry.
Great series of photos
Oh, what a cutie!! And so lovely shot you got of it:-)
Great photos of the busy little squirrel. It's funny to see him making off with that huge (compared to him) pine cone.
