I wish these shots were better but this was the best I could get of these wood ducks.
The male is so colorful it's hard to believe he's real. The female is less colorful but with her striking white eyeliner I think she is quite attractive.
The males seem to think so too as she has two of them pursuing her.

That is my water sight for the week. You can see more at Watery Wednesday hosted for us by 2sweetnsaxy.

Hey, Martha, I know the feeling! I had trouble capturing some mergansers or this week's post. I love the reflection in the first photo.
Stunning male ducks!
Was it the light on the water or is there spring algae already in the stream?
I have to learn the names of these ducks. I seem to be fascinated of those ducks at Lake Balboa. Next time, I will pay attention to their colors to determine their sex. Thanks for the info.
lovely ducks....great shot...
Love the pictures. Seems they were enjoying the water.
My entry
Your 'white eyeliner' comment made me smile. Beautiful ducks.
Happy Watery Wednesday!
Love the ripple effect on the water, always enjoyed seeing them.
Yep, its that time of the year. Great shots.
Martha -- those pictures are fine! I have thought that about the woodducks before -- hard to believe they aren't carved. Active time of year for the birds and bees isn't it? ;>) Thanks for sharing.
I wish I were that lucky having two pursuing me :) Love the photos though, I think they are very well captured.
Beautiful photos. Lot of details and good color.
I love your heron header! I think you did a great job getting shots of the ducks. The female is quite lovely with her white eyeliner and the males so handsome in their bold attire.

Happy ducks. One can imagine the sound they were making. Please have a nice Thursday.
Wood ducks are amazingly beautiful.
Nice birds. When I was growing up, it seemed that Woodies were nearly extinct--they seem to show up everywhere anymore.
Wonderful ... Spring is in the air ;-)
Hugs and blessings,
