Home from the Desert

I haven't left comments the last week as I have been away and off the web.

We went off to the desert last week to camp and hunt the elusive wild flower with our digital sensors. We had intended to go to Anza-Borrego, Joshua Tree and Death Valley. Things didn't go as planned and we are back sooner than anticipated.

We stopped the first night in this lovely campground in an orange grove. The management encourages the guests to pick oranges and even lends out fruit pickers. After that things started to go down hill.

When we left the campground and got on the freeway to cross the mountains we noticed that there were some trucks parked on the side of the road. The farther we went the more trucks we saw parked. I was getting a bad feeling. Yes, the road was closed ahead, due to snow.

After our stay at Anza-Borrego the Roadtrek malfunctioned and we couldn't empty the holding tanks. All the campgrounds at Joshua Tree were full. We decided it was time to abandon our adventure, come home and get the van fixed.

I did get some good shots at Anza-Borrego and at our drive through Joshua Tree. Enough good ones I hope for several posts.

I am sorry to hear about your misadventures. I hope the van will be fixed soon...Thanks for the warning, maybe we will postpone our trip to Death Valley.

Have a good rest.

Wow, that sounds like a nice place, they encourage orange picking? I'm sure it smells great too! Sorry that your vacation didn't go as planned, bummer :-( Glad you are safe!

I, too, am sorry that your trip didn't go as planned. But, you got home safely and that is what is most important. I am looking forward to your posts in the coming days. At least you got to enjoy a part of your planned stops. How fun it must have been to be out and about picking oranges! Orange juice sounds really good right now...

Too bad you had to abort, Martha!

Dear Martha, hope everything is fine. Even though a desert remains one of my favourite places ever, guess, that home is home.
Please have you all a wonderful Tuesday.

Oh, okay--commented on the desert wildflowers before I got here. I may have to go back to visiting everyone every day. Hope things are working on the van again. (And I hope we don't have snow in the passes on the way to the beach next month.)

Hope the repairs don't take too long and aren't terribly costly. Sorry your trip was cut short.
Hugs and blessings,
