Hubby and I went to Calaveras Big Trees State Park for a few days of camping. We hadn't been here before and we had a great time.
The skies are beautiful here in the California Gold Country
but the real draw are the giant sequoia. There are 75 groves of giant sequoia left in California. The most famous are in Sequoia National Park but there are also groves in Yosemite, here at Calaveras Big Trees and at few other places.
I'll show you more of the park in a later post.

Neat shot. I want to see a sequoia close up someday.
Beautiful blue sky & nice shot. It's just so wonderful to be at the park with full of nature around.
Have a nice day.
someday I will get to see these great trees in person. thanks for showing them to me until that time. great skywatch by the way.
: )
Your photo of the Sequoia really sets off its amazing height. Looks like your area of CA had great weather, too!
Love the perspective on the second shot. The treea are gorgeous and so with the sky.
They are magnificent trees. I was amazed at their size when we visited Ca. Nice shots, they can be hard to photograph.
Beautiful sky and great trees.
Nice shots!
Lovely clouds in the first image and majestic looking sequoias in the second. Beautiful colors!
Great photos...I like the angle on the second shot...these trees are beautiful...I would love to see them...
Trees like miracles! Hope redwood will never be that rare that it actually becomes a miracle. (Well, here in Finland they certainly would be; they'd refuse to grow here). How tall are those trees, approximately?
I'm not sure about this tree but some are over 300 feet (90+ meters. This one is not a giant, maybe 250 feet?
When you visit Mt. Rainier, we will have to hike to the Grove of the Patriarchs. Although the trees are not as tall as the sequoia, some are hundreds of years old.
Big trees are one of my passions. I will travel far out of my way to see a giant.
Lovely shots! I'd love to see a sequoia some day and hug it :)
