We went to Los Angeles over Memorial Day and returned home via the Eastern Sierra. We had more of the early monsoon weather. The evening clouds were precipitating but the rain didn't hit the ground (a phenomenon called virga)

Not a short cut!!
Neat clouds!!!
Hi Martha,
What dramatic cloud formations! Looks as though you had a beautiful drive. Raining here in Breckenridge - our forests have been getting welcomed moisture.
Beautiful clouds. You can certainly see the rain in them.
Gorgeous shots. Have been seeing some of those formations here in Arizona, too. Tonight's clouds made for a spectacular sunset and I was out - without my camera. :-(
Hope you have a good weekend.
Beautiful photos and interesting information, I had never heard of virga before. =)
I like the shadow in the first photo and the streaks of precipitation in the second one. I Didn't know that was called virga. I see that in the desert sometimes, it's such a tease!
wow, stunning shots!!
Yes, we were there and I enjoyed every moment! Our first stop was on Saturday in Alabama Hills. Last night I learned how to do a panorama photo of the hills, which I posted in my blog. We went to the Tufa Reserve twice. On our way home, we stopped at Red Rock Canyon in Cantil. Oh, my, I love natural beauties. We came home on Wednesday and I went back to work on Thursday. I am also catching up with my blog hopping. Hope we cross our paths in the future because we are going back in September.
Amazing clouds in a beautiful area. Must have been a great drive. Thanks for sharing.
