A Gull in the Clouds

I took the shot to ID the bird (a gull) and found I had a great shot of the clouds.

Find more skies from around the world at SkyWatch, Friday, hosted for us by Klaus, Sandy, Wren and Sylvia.

The beautiful sky was an extra present when you downloaded your camera. I love when that happens!

It is a great shot of the clouds and the gull. Happy skywatching. I have not even tried to id any gulls. For me they seem to be one of the more difficult species of birds.

Does it sometimes seem to you as though gulls are taking over the world? They're showing up all over north Texas, in part because of burgeoning landfills, but also because of all the fake lakes that are sprouting up to feed the water needs of all those unwitting folks who're moving here to look for work. The gulls don't care, though, opportunists that they are. More people means more french fries from the fast-food parking lot. Still, they're lovely, especially when captured like you've done, against a stunning background.

I have a Mono Lake tee-shirt that depicts all of the critters that live in and around the lake. Aside from coyotes, the biggest is yet another variety of gull.

Definitely one of those shots that make you wish you could be a bird, if just for one nice day!

we noticed one hot day, all the pigeons were sheltering in the gazebo. The sea gulls were outside.
