The trail to Upper Yosemite Falls is steep and much of it is over easily eroded decomposed granite. On our recent visit there was a crew working to improve the trail.
It's not an easy job. First the granite must be cut from large boulders off the trail.
Then hauled by people power to where it is needed. This is wilderness so no motor driven equipment is used.
They set the blocks in place.
They build a wall, the old fashioned way.
It's hard work but oh! What a view!
We do appreciate their hard work, making the trail safer for everyone.
See more of our world at That's Our World, Tuesday; hosted for us by Arija, Gattina, Lady Fi, Sandy and Sylvia.

I am still stuck in Bodie with my blog but when done will move over to Yosemite. I haven't been there in years and was dismayed. I like your post here though. Yes, the best "office" one could ever imagine.
Lots of hard work, but it so appreciated by so many! What an awesome view indeed! Thanks for sharing the beauty, Martha! Have a beautiful day!

Interesting post!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Beautiful shots of the place with interesting experience.
Fascinating to watch them do it. Great photos.
Wow, that looks harder than our trail crew deals with in the canyon.
Great post, showing the hard workers in the national park. I appreciate everyone that helps to maintain all of our trails. Have a wonderful day!
Loved the rainbow in the first photo. That job looks incredibly hard but the views must really make it a satisfying job.
beautiful scenes!!
I'm pleased to see the trails are being improved as it makes the hike accessible to more people, not to mention much safer.
That does look like a lot of work, but having that view all day must provide some compensation. the trail should be safer for a long time to come, so it's a worthwhile project.
We so appreciate the trail crews everywhere.
I bet they are glad they are not building a pyramid!!! Only a wall!!
Hope you were wearing a hard hat, too!
Interesting series -- the view would definitely be a bonus for that job, if they weren't too tired to appreciate it. Hard work but as you say needed and appreciated.
Wow! Your post really highlights the huge amount of work required to make the wilderness accessible to hikers. Wonderful photographs and very clear explanation. I learned something today. Thank you!
Yes a beautiful view. We had a great time there last week.
That looks back breaking. Great pics.
