With the moon full, I took a picture of the cabin behind ours with a two minute exposure.
A few nights later it was Labor Day weekend and the neighbors were in residence. I like the glow through the curtains but now the moon was lower and not casting shadows against the wall. I was surprised to see the hint of blue sky, it was 10 pm and the sun had set two hours earlier.
I used an ISO of 400 with the lens wide open. The two minute exposure was about right but it depends on the conditions, one night there was some haze from fires and then the moon was waning. My camera takes as long or longer to process the shot as the exposure so each one took over four minutes.
You can see more interesting shadows at Hey Harriet.

Spooky Goodness.
These are beautiful pictures. And they are perfect for SSS.
I like that last one, cool effects in all of them though.
Gosh, these are all done very very well! I am impressed. I just love the effects in that last one!
I am fascinated by your photos and loved the explanation! I think I like best the depth given by the shadows in the first photo!
It's a lovely idea to take moon shadow photographs and yours are quite ethereal - beautiful!
Those are something we see so often but, often don't notice. We look up in amazement at the moon and forget to notice it's light right here in front of us...Thank you for the reminder to keep an eye open at night.
So beautiful and mysterious looking. I love the woodpile in the moonlight.
That light in the window warmed my heart. Thank you!
Oh, yes, beautiful and mysterious! You're all ready for Halloween! Marvelous shadow shots, Martha! I love them!

I love the concept of the moon shadows and the dedication it took to set up and take the shots! Bravo(a)!
I just love that last one...perfect!
Wonderful experimentations ... clever title. Of course I'll be humming this song indefinitely today ... just because. I shared Plumeria shadows at Happily Retired Gal and 'doggy shadows' at Small Reflections this week.
Hugs and blessings,
These are lovely photos-I really like the orange glowing windows too. Is this where you live or are you on holiday? Either way it looks very beautiful!
