Some may think of death and destruction when they hear "White Sands, New Mexico". It's true, this is the area where the first atomic weapons were detonated.
It is also a place of great beauty, the white sand a perfect canvas for shadows.
It's hard to tell the spiky leaves from the spiky shadows.
Spent pods, twigs and the ripples of the sand itself all show their shadows.
The shadow of the fence is stunning. The sand in white is unusual, the rocky New England sand is more sepia in tone than this. The horizontal rails stretch out fat, not to infinity but far onto the sand. The plants leave delicate shadows, that combine nicely the wood. I enjoy the surf like ripples an the white grains. What a stunning place and capture!
I was going to do a similar shadow but on red dirt from Sedona, Az. The plant was very similar to yours. But, changed my mind. The White Sands are truly white! Beautiful!
I thought I was looking at SNOW until I read your words! What marvelous shadowy captures in this unusual stretch of desert. Methinks my fav is the first fence shadow today ;-) Hugs and blessings, My Shadow Shots

Ha ha- our white is all snow!
At first glance they could almost be snow! I love them!
The shadows are beautiful on the white sands from the bold fence rails to the subtle ripples of the sand itself.

Gorgeous shadow shots; the first one, with the fence, looks almost like a winter scene. I'd love to be walking in warm sand about now. =)
